Hello Victoria, Great question! We recommend using the Ring Motion Sensor near the Ring Bridge so that it can work as intended. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are several factors that affect the operation. Distance from the RING bridge which is sold separately. Walls brick and even steel. I’m sure if you used it mounted outside the car, facing the car from and it’s within range of the bridge, it should work for your suggested application. As for inside the car, that would be questionable just because of the above noted obstructions. This is how I set it up to detect movement around my vehicles parked outside. I have them activate my RING cameras, my phone & floodlights when it detects motion.
