• I believe the biggest difference is the 2 has 1080p camera vs 720p on the original model.

• I believe the difference is that the Ring 2 has a removable chargeable battery, while the initial Ring does not have a removable battery which means you will have to pull it off the installation plate to charge if you are using it in a battery only application.
