• This specific wedge only points down but they make a wedge made for angles, too. The other wedge angles left to right.

• I believe it can work with the wedge that you have already installed. Just as long as the wedge is The same size as the The Ring so that you can screw the new wedges to the wedge that’s already on your wall. With it tilting with all the wedges that came in the package installed, it didn’t make too much of a difference for me but I was able to get it to capture more downwards to the ground closer to the door. Also The Ring Unit looks kind of awkward on my wall.
