Hello bestone4u, Great question! Yes, even if it is hardwired, the Ring Video Doorbell 3 needs the included battery to function. Unlike a purely hardwired Ring doorbell such as the Ring Doorbell Pro, a battery-operated doorbell does not use the electricity generated by the hardwire to power its regular operations. Instead, it uses the provided rechargeable battery to do all of its regular operations like ringing, detecting motion, and generating a Live View. The charge from the hardwiring supplies a trickle charge to the battery. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. The hardwire connection is used to trickle charge the battery. The ring doorbell is designed to get its power from the battery not the hardwire.
