Yes ...it will sense motions. But it works far better than non-camera infrared sensing devices that in hot weather have difficulty distinguishing between body temperature and ambient air temperature when trying to detect motion. The Ring, like most camera based monitors use video "pixel shifting" as a way to identify motion. This ability to pick up motion is so good the camera's algorithm for sensing motion is adjustable in order to distinguish between humans only and say a butterfly, or a small animal that would effect pixels only at the bottom of the image.
