• Yep even if your tv is really old. Still check your tv port on the back of your tv though. We just did this for my grandpa this Last Christmas :).

• As long as both have the Optical In port, then you're golden. I connected my sound bar to my LCD Smart TV. Plasma TVs should definitely have the Optical In port since this technology has been around a while.

• Unfortunately, without a specific tv model number, there is no way to determine with any certainty whether or not the optical cable will work with a sound bar. Check the tv outputs first. If it has a digital optical output, you should have no problem. Also, keep in mind the proximity of the tv output and sound bar input to be sure this is the correct length.
