“Will this device fry my monitor? I used a previous splitter with my monitor (Asus VG248QE) And it fried the HDMI port to the point where it would no longer display anything. I definitely don't want this to happen again. Trying to split my laptop signal.”

No it should not fry your monitor. I have used this item for over 2 years at my house to split a DirecTv receiver to an outside TV. It has worked beautifully and is still in good shape. I also purchased a 2nd one for a traveling event to split an HD camera output between two computers. So far it has held up to 3 live events, however under this type of application the unit seems a little weak compared to heavy duty options.
