The device you are mentioning, only duplicates the input, to 2 monitors. It does not create a "screen extension" like what you are asking for. The only way to do what you are asking is to use 2 different outputs from your laptop, i would suggest the hdmi port for one screen, and then the VGA for the other screen. Then go into your graphics properties and make sure its on "extend" instead of Duplicate.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Laptops usually don't work with 2 way HDMI Splitters unless you are just trying to get replicates of your monitor on to other screens. The laptop has to identify the monitor so you can adjust settings if you want. By putting a splitter the laptop can't identify either of the monitors. If you want to have to separate monitors that are hooked up to your laptop with 3 different screens popping up the best thing I can suggest is getting a Chromecast or some similar product where you can cast a tab onto one monitor and still have the other two with full control.

Some people use a splitter to do presentations, etc... From the video out, HDMI, DVI, VGA on your laptop, it will run to the splitter then to the monitors. If your laptop is DVI, VGA, SVG you will need an HDMI adapter. Something like that.
