I think the manual talks about turning off the CEC function on the TV's if you don't want to have them both turned on to watch TV.

When a source device (blu-ray player, cable/satellite box, etc.) is connected to a TV via HDMI cable, the TV 'tells' the source device what the best possible video resolution (among other things) that it is capable of displaying. If the 2 TVs you are connecting to the splitter do not have the same display capabilities, you will need to use the lowest common denominator (for example, if one is a 720p panel and the other is a 1080p panel, you will need to set the 1080p panel to 720p in order to display the video on both TVs at the same time).
