• Digital optical cables are not the same as HDMI cables. Although the name seems misleading, optical cables only provide audio connectivity. An HDMI cable provides both video and audio connectivity, and at what is considered improved quality over other combinations of AV cabling.

• This is not an HDMI cable. This is an optical audio cable which is used to output audio from a device to the television.

• No, it is not. An HDMI cable is used for high quality picture and sound in one cable. The digital optical cable is a fiber optic cable, which delivers , only sound, but of the highest quality.

• Although HDMI video cables also carry the audio signal for videos, this is NOT an HDMI cable. This is a fiber optic cable that only carries audio and requires the correct S/PDIF connection on each device.
