Clear Audio from Heavy Duty Digital Optical Cable

Premium Digital Audio Cable Delivers the clearest audio & is built to last a lifetime! I use premium cables to bring out DTS & Dolby Atmos while viewing the latest LG OLED 4K UHD TV. This is my first opportunity to purchase a Rocketfish cable from Best Buy instead of the much more expensive and highly advertised premium cable brand. The 2 photos show this Rocketfish Digital Optical Cable. The sound quality through the Rocketfish HDMI is stunning using DTS & Dolby Atmos source material. I could not hear any difference between the Rocketfish and the most highly advertised brands that cost several times more. Examinations of the cable's physical attributes show very expensive materials, with no shortcuts. The cable is very thick (approximately 3/8" diameter) showing extra durability in the cable. The plugs are super heavy duty, an incredibly strong, lightweight material with the highest physical strength - the thickness & the plugs are exactly the same as the most expensive "premium brand" cables. Beware of THIN optical cables. They do not flex many times without breaking the optical cable inside. Thin cables cost less, and are less expensive to manufacture. On the "high end" extreme, well engineered plugs add physical strength (they won't break if hit). This cable made a believer out of me. Rocketfish offers the absolute BEST in quality digital optical audio signal transmission with the highest quality construction at the best value. Rocketfish earns my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

I purchased a floor model soundbar for a nice price, it did not come with a remote or a digital audio cord. 4 ft. cords (the smallest available) were like $23, 8 ft. was like $26 so might as well grab the extra footage. Works like it should, bought the Rocketfish over the cheaper GE or whomever. Small caps on ends of cord are tough to spot when first unpackagaing.

I recently added a soundbar/sub combo (a Sony HTST-7) to my living room tv. It came with a tiny gauge toslink optical cable, but I wanted to replace it with something more robust. The Rocketfish cable was easily 8 times the girth of the original Sony cable. Since the connections on the soundbar and tv are on opposite ends, the added length was beneficial also. Great cable, especially at the $4 sale price.

    The speed of sound

Keep up with the speed of sound. You never want sound lag in whatever you are watching. It doesn't matter if it's sports, movies, sitcoms, newscasts or games, you want the sound to match what is happening on screen and to help with the fullness of the surround sound. Fiber optics allow for faster and a more rounded surround sound. I should have bought this longer optic cable from the beginning. My old cable was too short, and it popped out often when I shifted the cable receiver for almost any reason. Do yourself the favor and get the longer cable so you don't have this problem. Also, make sure you have the fiber optic hookup first (If it's a newer tv, surround sound player etc., you are highly likely to have it.) However, check the receiver and the purchased unit first. Simply flip the unit around and look for the word optic or optic sound and make sure there is the same on the other end where you are hooking it up. Notice that most, if not all, optic cables go in to the unit in one direction or side. Do force it into the unit. If the first side does not go in, flip it to the next side and try it. And, yes it's worth buying an optic sound cord to keep up with the speed and fullness of the sound. It's not that expensive and Rocketfish is definitely worth it.

Hear true digital fiber-optic surround sound using audio connections with this cable that is designed to connect both standard and high-definition components by sending digital surround sound audio signals through Toslink digital audio (S/PDIF) jacks. Works great! Just as promised.

    Optical cable does the job

Nice, good quality cable for the price that does the job. I would not say that the price is good if I did not get it on sale, but I did, so kudos to Best Buy for giving me that break. My cable was 8 ft long and that's about perfect in length for my purposes. Since it is digital, do not worry about any degradation in audio quality on less expensive cables since there will be none when the signal stays digital from the source to your receiver. This cable can be used on sound bars, connecting TVs to receivers, or other similar application. I like the fact that the cable has adequate thickness and padding for the fiber optic cable inside so that it offers enough protection from accidentally breaking the glass inside. The cable is not name brand (like "Monster") or such, but that is not necessary if you just want functionality. Besides, your friends won't be snooping around the back of your audio system, unless they are true hi-fi nuts, and you will not find many of those anymore. It does not have the fancy metal or gold plated end connectors, that would have bumped the rating to a 5 star, but that is not absolutely essential, unless you expect the cable to get extreme abuse, which an optical cable will not hold up to anyhow. This review is a little over kill for a low cost cable, but hope all the detail helps you on your purchasing decision. Thanks for reading.

Got this recently to hook up LED TV to the soundbar. It is a good quality TOSLink cable. Hooking it up was pretty straight forward, just get the 2 plastic end covers off the tip of either end, plug one end to the Optical out on the TV, other one in the Optical In on the soundbar. The cable fits only 1 way, so align the flat end of the cable with the connector and push it in firmly. The box contained no documentation surprisingly, but the cable quality made up for the minor shortcoming. Overall great quality and great value

I needed a longer optical digital audio cable to connect my new TV to the AV Receiver to use my surround sound system. This 8-foot cable is of very high quality and is the exact length I needed to be able to reach the back of the AV Receiver and to move the TV to reach the back connections. I now have enough "slack" in the cable so as not to apply tension to the plug-in connections.

I needed a cable to send audio back from my TV to my AVR for watching the built-in apps on the TV (Samsung). Normally all my audio goes the other way (from a DVD, BluRay, CD, or dish to the AVR). I was able to walk into the store, grab the item and walk out. The length was perfect for what I needed. It looks good quality and is quite flexible, which can be tricky to find in an optical cable.

I didn't need 12 feet or more of optical. Where am I going? Next door? Upstairs? No, I'm going out of my TV and down to my receiver in the console below. This cable was the right price and the right distance. As for it's performance, it plugs in to the port and is snug. It apparently lets light through since my receiver is sensing the surround signal. What more could you ask for?

My dad has asked me to get a new cable for his Bose sound system cause the one it came with to short. Thankfully I knew about rocket fish, so I went ahead and plugged this in. And was blown away, you can hear things like never before! And the length of the cable was perfect!! This cable is a must for any surround sound system.

Needed this cable to connect my new HD TV to my older surround sound system. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. I've purchased this same cable for another (all new HD TV & new surround) system a couple a year's ago (the system's provided cord wasn't long enough), so when I needed the same type cord again, I went for the Rocketfish.

Waiting to Place it in Service

I have three HDTV's in service under my direct control with a fourth in a tenant's room under his. I just got into the sound bar business this summer when purchasing one w/sub woofer for outdoor deck use and then another basic bar a few weeks later for NFL Sunday Ticket in the kitchen. Nine year old 26" HDTV would only accept a 10-pin composite cable, but other two newer models handle digital cables just fine. I see no reason why this 8'er will not complement the 4', 15' & 25' digital cables that I previously purchased and the entire collection will accommodate any connection permutation to all of the HDTV's of any length between to the satellite receiver when rearranging the positions and locations of the three HDTV's especially after my next equipment upgrade. This was my aim: to acquire several digital cables to enable more connection choices of various lengths instead of being committed to just those lengths of just one or two cables.

This cable worked perfect with my LG sound bar to Samsung Tv. The connection was simple, the length of the cord is perfect to allow hookup without having to worry about having a stretch. Plugged it in and has delivered a constant sound quality since purchase date.
