Q: I can't get these cables to firmly connect to the ports. Any tricks?

A: I discovered that I was trying to insert it into the plug with the plastic protector caps still in place. Removing the tiny covers allowed it to seat into the plug and work fine.

Q: WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS FOR

A: This cable will go from your tv to your receiver/external speaker sorce. Say for instance you have a smart tv with wifi and your streaming Netflix, the sound will only be heard out of your tv speakers. You'll need this cable to go from your tv to your external device to enjoy surround sound

Q: What do I do with the covers on the optical cable jacks?

A: You should remove the covers. They are only there for protection during packaging/shipping.

Q: How do I make your Rocketfish optical audio cable fit my Vizio sound bar?

A: You need to make sure you have removed the small beads of wax from the ends. There is a top and bottom. The cable will only fit one way.

Q: hdmi

A: Digital optical cables are not the same as HDMI cables. Although the name seems misleading, optical cables only provide audio connectivity. An HDMI cable provides both video and audio connectivity, and at what is considered improved quality over other combinations of AV cabling.

Q: how do I connect the digital optical audio cable?

A: You just run the cable from the soundbar to your tv. Anything that plays on the tv will go to soundbar. You also have to change the settings for the tv to route through soundbar and turn tv speakers off.

Q: The optical -Tos link cable which i have got has square tip with round jack. The square plastic tip does not fit set top box or Home theatre.

A: I had trouble fitting the cable until I discovered there is a protective cap over the optic plugs. I pulled them off and inserted them into their sockets. It works fine.

Q: can you coil a fiber optics cable? If so. how tightly?

A: Yes you can coil this cable, as long as there is not undue stress on the cable.
