This cable uses to pass audio from dvice to another and able to work with multi channel audio like Dolby Digital. Depending on your gear if you want to get the audio out to a sound bar from your tv so this is your option but if you have a blu ray then you better use HDMI cable for both audio and video. I hope i could explain that right.
