“If this unit is plugged into the wall and powered up in receiving mode, can I stream music to it without getting a 60cycle hum? The one I currently have now can only be used on battery without a loud hum and can not be plugged in... has a 6 hour limit.”

This model does NOT hum; this is a higher quality unit and it does not hum on my system. My dad had an earlier model and it hummed on the head phone jack output but then he tried an optical connection and the hum went away (which could have been feedback from the wire running along power cords as well).
