“What are the actual dimension of the mount itself? I am hanging above the fire place and have a stud in the middle and then 16" both ways so I need a mount that the length is at least 32"”

As long as the bracket can reach two studs you are good, the tv is able to slide back and forth on bracket for centering. However you don’t want your bracket to stick out on one side.
