• Hi Phil! Like many streaming devices, the Roku platform is ad supported. While an ad will not play the moment you turn your TV, you'll see a static display ad on the side of Roku home screen, along with ad recommendations while you search for a channel to browse through. Happy Streaming!

• well, it depends on what you are watching...not on your streaming platforms but sometimes on live news platforms as well as if you are streaming though YouTube.
