yes/no. its a streaming stick so some channels (nbc) have apps that you can access with cable sign ins, others (cbs) you have to pay a seperate fee for. and then you are also not accessing the local feeds but its more like an on demand access to their hit shows. fo live local feeds you will want an ota box like tivo roamio ota. you can watch live shows from local broadcast signals and even dvr with that and an antenna.

Yes, you just have to look for the network's channel (usually free) and most have you select your region, or some you have to look around to find your programming. It gives you more viewing time options for the listings with the different time zones. You can always get a digital antenna for a reasonable cost for back up if you are having difficulty.
