The earbuds or any other stereo headphones with a muni plug will fit the jack in the remote and if you walk into an adjacent room, the audio stays on.

The range is about 25 to 30 feet once you go into another room out of line if site from the player you will likely lose audio. The earbuds are comfortable and you can enjoy TV without bothering your spouse.
