I looked online first at Roku.com to see info about their streaming players. What impressed me the most is the 4500 CHANNELS AVAILABLE ON ROKU!!!!!. None of the other streaming players showed many channels AT ALL!!! Then I went shopping and comparing Best Buy.com to see more info about my Premier+. The salesman at the store told me I had to put a credit card on file. I use a prepaid credit card for internet safe shopping. But once I entered my account on the internet, I was really impressed at all the channels. It was fairly easy to start up on Roku.com. Sports, gardening, old movies, newer movies, old TV shows, radio serial shows, horror, music, trains, 4K shows, anime......you name it, it's there!!!!!! AAAAANNNNNNNDDDDDD you do not have to "buy or rent" channels or movies if you don't want... There are so many free ones to choose.... All you need is internet with decent speed, computer, TV with a HDMI plug and credit card. I have had it flip out a couple of times. All you have to do to reboot is unplug it's electric for one minute and two minutes to reload again. My cable box takes at least ten minutes!!! When I saw all that Roku Premier+ has, I am kicking myself for not buying this SOONER. All I added was a universal remote so I have TV volume control, also. Well worth every penny!!!!

Researched most similar devices and Roku seemed to be one of top streaming devices. Its versatile and easy to navigate. The resolution is so good, it's as if we have a brand new TV. Vivid!

I purchased this a day before the new version came out. I got the update that the new unit has. Works great and I said good buy to the cable company. I paid for my Roku in the first month with the savings. The Roku streams a very good picture. I bought two more to go on TV's in the bedrooms. Plus you can put this model anywhere and the remote works. This model uses radio signals to transmit, plus you can use your phone to change channels and type searches quicker than using the remote. Bonus in my opinion.

Every device streams pretty well these days. So, for me it's all about the user experience. The Roku is easy to understand, easy to set up and easy to use and the price is right. The remote is extremely, intuitive which makes navigation a snap. All in all I'm very happy with my choice.

I recently cut cable tv. I use the Roku for sling t.v., hulu and Netflix. It is awesome. Saving $140 per month and Roku makes it so easy to get between streaming services. Great remote and compact size makes it perfect. I love it!

Previously we had the Roku 2 and it worked well and served its purpose for streaming Netflix, Hulu, etc. However, now with all the IPTV services out there like DirecTV now, Sling, Hulu, Youtube Red, etc, our old roku is out of date. This new unit is MUCH faster going through menus, loading content, and you can stream all of the latest content in 4K! Also, the remote control has shortcut buttons, and is RF instead of IR, meaning you do not have to be in the vicinity or line of sight of the unit itself to operate it. Feel free to be snuggled up on the couch or laying in bed with under a blanket and you can easily go through all the functions. The only gripe I have is, I think all of the units should have a remote finder button and also voice search. You have to upgrade to the Roku Ultra for that. And even the Roku streaming stick plus has the voice search button. Otherwise, this is a great option if you want a snappy high quality solution for your streaming content!

This thing flys. My roku 2 has gotten me through a a few years and has been and is still tolerable. That is until you get a look at this thing. From selecting a channel such as vudu or Netflix to HD or UHD streaming will take you mere seconds. Nothing aside from your internet bandwidth will hold you back from blazing speed. Interface is the same as you’d expect if you have other roku devices. A huge positive is the roku account set up. If you already have a roku account from previous devices all you have to do is log in through a computer, enter the provided code on your new roku and it starts to download all your channels you already use, essentially mirroring your old device so you don’t have to search to re download your favorite channels and apps. Headphone listening through the remote and through the roku mobile app is great. I have several brands of steaming devices and I still think roku is the best.

    Very Happy with My Purchase

I bough the Roku Premiere Plus after we joined Kanopy as benefit of Brooklyn Public Library (get to stream 6 free movies/month from great catalog of classics). Set up was easy and accomplished in a few minutes. Unfortunately, the interface is not as intuitive and simple as Roku says it is - takes some getting used to and I may read tutorial to expedite the learning curve. I went for the Premiere Plus because it had an ethernet port for wired internet connection - there are times when my WiFi is not great and drops connection so having the ethernet port allows for a great streaming experience and I unplug the cable when I am not using Roku. I have an HD TV so I really had no need for 4K capability. Picture quality is as good as what i now get with regular Fios TV and watching DVDs. The remove feels solid and has a good feel and works well - you do not have to point exactly to control Roku on the TV screen. Really like the headphone jack for private listening and appreciate the night time adjust feature. Had been yearning to subscribe to Acorn (I am a BBC mystery addict) and with Roku, I can now do that. Very satisfied with my purchase - only negative is the unintuitive and somewhat cumbersome UI. But then again, my Fios UI is also dreadful!

Good size, quick. I love love love the headphone jack on the remote. Very handy for watching TV while my wife sleeps or reads. My main problem with the unit is the lack of a USB port. We have numerous flash drives with various movies etc. on them which we move around from room to room depending on who wants to watch what. My other Rokus all have the port. While it does have a Micro SD slot, those tiny cards are a pain to insert and remove, are easy to lose, can't be labeled, and, in my experience, are not as durable. While I could spend a bunch of money and time setting up a wireless media server so I don't need the port, I shouldn't have to. I like having the USB drives for portability. Another issue with Roku is that it only plays a couple of kinds of files - it won't play .AVIs, .MPEGs, .FLVs, and various other formats. I've gotten good at converting my files... Other than those issues, this unit is great. If all you need it for is watching Netflix, etc., it is awesome. It is worth getting the fancier version for the remote - the headphone port rules, and you don't have to point the remote at the unit to get it to work.

    Greatest Roku

I'm already a big fan of Roku, so when I saw this, I decided to give it a try. One thing to keep in mind, this one is 720p and 1080p, no 4K. Works for me, all of my TVs are 1080p. It's small size is great for when we go on trips. All you need is the USB cable as it can draw power from it, no need to bring the power supply. In a hotel room just plug it up, connect to the WiFi, and I have all my Netflix, Hulu, etc. for relaxing in the room at the end of the day. Since it draws power from the TV, it turns on and off with the TV. This is great for when I'm going to bed at night, I just set the sleep timer on the TV, and when the timer turns the TV off, the Roku also turns off. I read reviews stating that it was slow, so I was a little worried, but that is not the case. Yes, since it is powered by the TV, it takes a minute for the Roku to power up and be ready to go. But let's be realistic, it's like 30 second or so, not a big deal. Once up and running, works just as well as my other Rokus. It comes with a strip of Velcro so you can attach it to your TV. As with other Roku models, you can control it through an app on your phone, which works via the WiFi, not line of sight. So, you can basically attach it to the back of the TV, plug the included USB cable into the USB port on the TV for power, connect the HDMI cable, and you're all set. I'm super happy with the Roku Express and should I need another Roku, this is the one I will buy, I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

Love the Roku with 4K streaming. Extremely easy to set up and use, lots of apps. Great for cord cutters or those looking to supplement their cable packages. Easy to use remote and really enjoy the headphones in the remote option for night time viewing without disturbing the wife. This is the third one I have in my house and if I had another television I’d get a fourth. For the price compared to the appletv, I’d choose this every time (I have an AppleTV in the house as well). Definitely recommend.

We have several different Roku's (express, stick, 3) and the Premier+ is the best! The picture quality is awesome. The ability to have a wired connection ensures a smooth picture every time. The infrared remote is awesome when you have kids that are ALWAYS standing in the way! I love the headphone jack for private listening - although you will want to use better headphones than the earbuds that come with it.

I purchased this for my father who cut his cable, but wanted access to more content. He enjoys technology, but isn't especially savvy with it. The Roku is perfect for him. He is able to download channels and content easily, the interface has large icons and is very intuitive. The option to connect headphones directly to the remote is perfect for late-night viewing, too. I definitely recommend it.

I bought a 4k TV so I was forced to upgrade my Roku Stick(3600r) because it didn't output 4k. I was used to the Roku menus so I figured I would stick with em. Everything works perfect. I use the Plex Roku app and sometimes Netflix, and I never have a problem. Everything loads fast, and streams perfect. I DO NOT use the wifi on the device, it's hard wired so I cannot comment on that. I have my receiver output the sound through optical on my TV and it sounds amazing. I did have a problem about a week ago though. The remote stopped responding completely. I tried changing batteries, soft resetting the Roku, syncing the remote again, nothing was working. I was about to try and get a new remote because nothing was working. After about 40 minutes of resetting, Googling and trying everything possible, I managed to get it to work out of nowhere. I read that there COULD be some kind of interference with other signals in the house, but I don't think that was the case, as I changed nothing in my house as far as devices or anything. Please keep in mind that I have the Roku App on my phone, and that worked perfectly to control the device, so even if I wasn't able to fix the remote, I still would have been able to use it. I noticed that the little "sync" light that's active while trying to pair the remote to the Roku wasn't blinking how it should have been. It was almost like there was a bad connection with a wire or something inside the remote. After a few light taps on my hand, it must have knocked something into place, because it started working moments later, and haven't had a problem since. I think I may have been sold a remote that wasn't manufactured 100% correctly. I never abused the remote in anyway, and it wasn't even so much as dropped. I'm just have to keep in mind that I need to treat it very carefully to prevent this from happening in the future. Still a 5 star review though. Love the Roku interface. It's pretty fast for switching menu's. Remote problem was most likely a fluke. If it does break at some point, I will most likely stick to just using the Roku App instead of paying to buy a new one. Also, the Roku Remote has 4 physical buttons for Netflix and 3 other apps, which I dislike because it is fairly easy to hit one of those on accident, and no matter what you are doing, it will pull you into the app's button you pressed. I would pay extra money for a Roku remote that would let me disable those buttons, or remap them to app(s) of my choice. If you are looking for a streaming device I'd highly suggest this thing.

Much faster processing than the Roku 3

I use Roku to stream media throughout my home. I have a Roku 3 in the den, a Roku Express in the garage hooked up to an old 55" Mitsubishi, a Insignia Roku tv in the bedroom and until now, a Roku stick in the projector. I bought the Premiere + because of it's processing power. The stick worked, but it was a bit clunky with all the apps. In addition, the lack of a micro sdcard slot in the stick was a negative. I got the Premiere + and swapped it for the stick, which is now a backup unit...until I need one out on the patio. The Epson projector seems much happier with the new unit. I grabbed an old 2gb micro sd card, inserted it and formatted it to the Roku. All my old apps showed up and after logging in to most of my favorite apps, the Premiere + streams over wifi very effectively. It's much faster than even the 3, which I seldom use anymore. I know Roku has changed it's lineup again, but this unit is up to my needs for now. I also know it does 4k, but I don't have the need for that at the moment. Perhaps that's where this unit will show it's age and I'll need to upgrade again, perhaps not. I'd recommend this to any owners of older Roku models.

This Roku is easy to set up a works excellent. I also have a fire stick and this is way better. It works much smoother and the remote is so much better on the Roku. The fire stick is only popular because you can put Kodi on it and pirate content.
