Yes, it works just as well. I have the stick in the living room and the Roku 3 in my child's room. Never had any problem and I can cast on either device.

I prefer the box, because I can put my music and movies on a hard drive and play them through the Roku media player. I have two sticks for convenience, but I prefer the box.

I am satisfied with it. If I had known, I would have paid the difference and got the roquefort stick that has the remote that replaces the remote on the TV ,
