“Do you have to download the Spectrum TV app or is is pre-installed? Does this work on Amazon Fire TV? Can it be used "out of home"?”

Yes you have to download the app- full instructions are given during install. I don’t know about working on FireTV but I don’t know why it wouldn’t and you def can take with you- main reason I bought it was so I could bring on long vacations

Please try again later.When you set it up it will ask you if you subscribe to a cable service and if you say yes it will list all of the cable services and ask you which one you subscribe to. Pick Spectrum and the Spectrum app is installed for you. We also subscribe to Spectrum and that is how we set ours up. It can be used out of the home as long as you have a WIFI internet connection and your passwords for your apps. We don't have Amazon Fire TV but I believe it can be used for that as well. We have several other streaming apps on ours such as ESPN, MLB TV and Disney as well.
