Wi fi extender is is a tool to boost your Wi-fi signal and ensure more consistent connection through out your space. Roku has improved its wi capabilities of its streaming stick 4K, generally good wi-Fi performance. Not sure why you need extender for your Ruko? It can work good alone if you don't have a large place. If your space is large and have walls between your router than go for it.

If this device is all your trying to get WiFi for then it will work without a WiFi extender but if you're struggling with other devices such as a phone or console then I would recommend getting the WiFi extender.
