• Hello Tony! A voice assistant such as Alexa is not required.; however, the Roku Streaming Stick is compatible with all three voice assistants, Alexa, Google Assitant, and Apple HomeKit.

• It does not. What it does need is an HDMI port on your TV to plug into, and also something to plug the USB power cable into (either into a USB port on your TV, or you can use the adapter to plug it into a very nearby socket).
