“Do I have to have a TV provider in order to use this device or can it be used independently on a TV? I have 3 apple TV devices but don't want to spend the money on another one so it would be hooked up to a TV without any TV cable or Apple TV device.”

But Netflix or prime video or Paramount plus, do not require a cable TV subscription to run the apps as far as I know… So you can use this independently just like you use the Apple TV devices and you don’t have to spend any extra money on anything unless you just have to use pay-per-view or rent a video on some of the apps like prime video.
