You will be able to get your local channels only if you have a “TV package” through your provider. This device comes with Live TV (NBC, ABC, CBS) but are not the local affiliates that you are used to viewing. Example- Austin, TX is NBC affiliate KXAN. The NBC through the Live TV feature is not.

Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, and PBS all have apps but may require a subscription to get your local channels. As for your DVR, you can connect it to your TV but it wont be able to record anything off of the Roku device.
