“If I use the headphone (which plugs into the remote) does that cancel out any sound that would normally come from the TV speakers? Can it be connected so volume from headphones and TV are separate?”

• All sound is transferred through the remote once you make the connection to headphones. This includes app sounds and tv sounds. No noise goes through your tv speakers at this point.

• I tested the earbuds in the remote and there was no sound coming from the television itself. I don't know for sure if you can have volume coming from the TV while having them connected to the remote, but I don't think that's possible.
