Hands down the best streaming device ever!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have used Roku virtually since they first came out and have always loved them. Fast forward to the Ultra, we got one several years back for our Master a Bedroom and loved the channel selection, ease of connection and above all the superior streaming quality. The voice command and headphone jack is great too (the included JBL earbuds are also great sounding and comfortable) as well as universal control of our old Samsung TV. Fast forward to today, we bought a second one for our 48” Insignia TV and have zero regrets. And...Disney+ is now supported. Win-win all around!

VERY nice upgrade from Roku 3
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been using Roku 3 for many years now, and the "3" still had the ability to upgrade to new programming and hold extra apps due to it's memory card, but the NEW Roku Ultra really seems snappy! I did install the microSD card from the former Roku3, and it reformatted fine, but from what I understand, one should not NEED to use a memory card in these newer models. If you do, put it in first, the HDMI plug fully covers the tiny SD card slot in back. Snappy? What do I mean? Definite and fast channel changing between apps, Remote has a GREAT feel to it, not too heavy but well-made...and, although it could be in my perception only, since I installed these on two 4k capable sets, the color saturation seems better, I guess you could say the color seems "deeper." I used to use the internal apps in my Sharp TV for best color, but now the Roku does the job equally well if not better. Running one wired and one on wifi, no issues after 3 weeks of daily use. Did not try the headphones as i don't use this feature...but this Roku model should be at home with me for many years!

Love, love, love it!!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love not having multiple remotes on my coffee table. This one remote seems to turn on and off all my electronics, including my TV and my surround sound system. No need to have anything else on the table. And I love just asking for what I want to watch instead of always having to go through all the apps to get to everything. Really cuts down on the search time. And it has so many apps, it's really wonderful.

Roku has it down to make it easy to stream!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Roku Ultra 4k box and remote make streaming very easy toset up and for your family to work seamlessly. Helps make the cutting the cord solution easy too! This combined with YouTube TV and say good by cable company!

The Best Streaming Solution
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are plenty of gadgets for streaming Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, etc... but this is the best. Especially if you connect this through an ethernet cable to your cable modem. Sure you can use this and plenty of other streaming gadgets through Wi-Fi but don't! A direct ethernet connection will give you the best possible performance and also keep your Wi-Fi open for your laptop, tablet and phones.

Roku - Ultra 4K Streaming Media Player with JBL He
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really nice unit. One of the best things about it is the use of headphones that come with it. You just plug it in and it mutes the TV sound! No more disturbing anyone in the room.

Bought it cause it has ethernet.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No way to turn radio off so if you want to limit exposure to radio waves you will have to wrap it like I did. Remote also uses radio waves and it will work through wrap. You have to use tinfoil first then aluminum screen to get rid of most of the waves coming from it. It does not overheat.

Love it! Replaces cable boxes & has so many apps.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these on Black Friday. The Roku Ultra does nothing special that the cheaper versions do not do but honestly it does so much in terms of the apps supported and functionality. The picture quality is amazing and it works a lot “snappier“ compared to my old Roku 3 that I have had for many years. My old Roku 3 is only 1080p and the picture is worlds apart on my 2019 Vizio M-Series tv and the JBL headphones are great too. If you do not already have headphones and this package is on sale, buy it! But if there is no sale please do not pay full retail price and get the cheaper 4k versions without headphones. I will note that I am a software engineer and I have dealt with so much tech, but for these types of devices Roku takes the cake over Amazon Fire tv, etc. In my photo I gave a size comparison for the box itself and put it next to a Note 10+; The box is about 1.5 inches bigger (ddiagonal measurement) compared to the older Roku boxes. If extreme space saving is of value for you I would recommend the stick over the box but I personally love the box because the remote responds to selections faster because typically your stick Roku would go in the back of your tv and not the front. With the box you can place it around and in front of the TV with an HDMI cord so you get the best signal for the remote. I gave this 5 stars despite the price complaint and that the headphones still have that “earbud sound“ to them. I gave 5 stars because the Roku allows for so many different TV apps that most 2019 TV‘s and similar electronics to the Roku still do not have, like the Spectrum Cable app and Disney+. I bought a Roku on Black Friday for every TV in my house and got rid of my Spectrum tv cable boxes in my house and use the app now which saves so much money. This is too handy and highly recommend doing this if you have tv boxes currently. I could not go without my Roku either because I have Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, and so many other subscriptions and services so it is just an awesome little piece of Technologe that puts them in one place.

Streaming Made Super Easy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to get the Roku Ultra to try and make streaming easier at home. To give you an idea of our previous setup: We don't have wifi and we would connect our laptop up to the tv to stream. Once our laptop started having ethernet cable connectivity issues and we were going to have to spend +$300 to fix it, I started to wonder if something like a roku device could help us with streaming and take the wear and tear off of us moving around the laptop all the time with the wires being continually connected and disconnected. Fast forward to now, we've had the Roku Ultra for about a month. I also added an ethernet switch (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tp-link-5-port-10-100-1000-mbps-gigabit-smart-ethernet-metal-switch-gray/2080346.p?skuId=2080346&ref=212&loc=1&ref=212&loc=1&ds_rl=1268652&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3qGZqLHF6gIVB4bICh0ysAMiEAQYBSABEgIZxPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds), and this allows us to have ethernet cables hooked up to a central port to allow multiple devices to use internet at the same time. It works like a dream!!! The picture quality is fantastic and speed on all devices is perfect. Access on Roku device is so easy. We have Hulu and Netflix and I use them a lot more now, because it's so easy to access. There are a lot of free materials to access through Roku as well, I love the remote capabilities and I've even used the headphone connection on the remote (it's cool). I had a lot of hesitation before buying this (including not wanting to add my credit card info to account when registering...which you don't have to do: https://my.roku.com/signup/nocc) but, in the end, I'm so glad I went for it. I felt like it was frivolous and unnecessary before purchasing but it makes watching so much easier, you can even search by show or person and it will give you the options to watch through Roku. So, now, because I have so much more access to materials, I think that I'm actually saving time and money by having it.

Best full featured 4k online streaming device!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose Roku over other devices since they don't try to force you into buying their media services unlike Amazon & Apple. Remote control with universal power/volume buttons & built-in headphone jack comes in very handy. Nice touch by including JBL earphones too! Faster than previous versions due to faster CPU. Very easy & straightforward user interface. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Best Roku yet!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, this Roku is awesome. Fast, easy to use and very intuitive controls, and with the Spectrum CATV Roku App, I don't even use the TV Tuner or a cable box anymore. The headphone connection to the remote is very nice. Also, the remote controls the volume and power of my TV, so I am now down to just one remote! Picture quality is impeccable!

Best Streaming Option, but not universal
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace an old Roku 2. In addition to adding 4K HDR, it extends surround sound options to include Dolby Atmos, for the few streaming sources that include those capabilities. The Ultra is significantly faster and more responsive, with fewer crashes, which can be a problem in the Roku ecosystem. It is now the only Roku device that supports a direct, wired Ethernet connection. Living in a high-rise building with dozens of WiFi signals competing for bandwidth, this is the only Roku device for which I don't have to make a choice between watching TV and using the microwave. The Roku ecosystem is by far the most versatile, comprehensive system for streaming, and it's fully customizable. In contrast to the Amazon Fire system, the interface is consistent and free of distractions such as advertising. Unfortunately, it only supports DLNA, AirPlay and Chromecast via third-party plug-ins, whereas competing devices do so out of the box. Unfortunately, the lack of support for Android plug-ins leaves out several major streaming sources, although very few. The addition of a minimum 32GB micro-SD card is recommended for storage of video channels. Although these cards are inexpensive, one is left wondering why sufficient storage isn't included in such a premium device as it is in the competition. The remote includes four buttons for major streaming services, but these are not at all customizable. They're great if you subscribe to Sling, Netflix, Hulu and Disney+. If you don't have one of those services, the button for it is a waste. The remote can be programmed to control power and volume for most TV sets, but not for any surround sound receivers, which is rather shocking for a premium device. The inclusion of cheap JBL earbuds that plug into the remote is a nice touch, but not in the same league as a decent set of Bluetooth headphones. Pros: Excellent picture quality and sound, fast and responsive, built-in Ethernet, fully customizable home screen. Cons: Must purchase separate micro-SD card, no built-in support for AirPlay, DLNA, Chromecast, remote is not customizable, cannot control surround sound receivers, no support for some Android streaming plug-ins.

Best Media Player/Streamer
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a bit of a gadget freak..., because of this, I’ve had experience with multiple generations of different media players, including Amazon Fires, Apple TV’s, generic and branded Android media boxes, video gaming consoles and even smart optical disk players, that stream. That being said, I have to say this ROKU Ultra is my absolute favorite. It’s simple to use. The voice function works well. The USB media player meets my needs. Every app I’ve looked for has been available. The only negative is that I wish there were a hardware keyboard built in. I serve as tech support for my extended family, so I got them all the same model, so that I can help them, when they get confused. (I support some really tech-challenged individuals). That being said, the Roku is so simple, the only real problem I run into is when an app does a redesign, and my user can’t intuitively figure out the new user interface. Of course, that’s not ROKU’s failing, but rather an issue with the third party publishers. I do also use an Nvidia Shield, which I also love — which is more customizable and plays games — but that’s a different class of device IMHO. For simplicity with a robust, snappy, intuitive operating system, that is easy for all users, the ROKU Ultra is my 100% recommendation. Disclaimer: No one paid me or gave me any other compensation to review this product. I wrote this, because I wanted to share my opinion and positive experience.

Still the best dedicated streaming box
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using Roku set-top streaming boxes for roughly 10 years with no disappointment. Had a Roku 3 for years. Then a Roku 4. Now the Roku Ultra. They are the fastest of any streaming devices, extremely easy to use and intuitive as well as flexible. I love the WiFi direct remote which reduces the need to point directly at the unit. The remote also allows you to control the volume of both your TV and/or sound system which is great. No need to search for your receiver remote just for volume. The headphone jack on the remote is always cool in case you want to stream while the significant other is sleeping next to you. The preset streaming service buttons as well as the two customizable ones make it convenient to access a few of your favorite streaming apps. Lastly, I love the default fish tank screen saver when the device is off. Unless you are the sort that prefers to watch illegal downloads with hacked Firesticks (which I'm NOT), I recommend the Roku over all other streaming devices.

Very good product for streaming .
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first Roku Ultra (model 4640 x which I using now in the bedroom )used before in my living room very good quality with only one complain - buffering. The new Roku Ultra (model 4670 ) with more powerful processor doesn't have buffering problem. BTW. the package do not include HDNI cable. My new Samsung Q90T TV set is my reason to get this model. In addition I get 3-Pack 48Gbps Ultra 8K HDMI Cable with 8K 120Hz and HDR Support - 2m, 6.6 Feet to have a max quality of the picture on my TV. This combination is work perfect.Remote control very responsive. I can't say anything about JBL Premium headphones because I use my Sennheiser headphones. I'm very happy with my new Roku Ultra with support of 4K.

ROKU is very good. It's worth the extra money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Details: I never give 5 stars because nothing is perfect, so 4 stars is my top mark. The ROKU Ultra 4K is an upgrade from my old ROKU, (called ROKU 2, about 8 years old). I was already familiar with the ROKU system, and have a couple of subscriptions via ROKU, so I wanted to stay within that framework so there was no real decision to make about that. This player has the full list of channels, and the remote works better than the old one, because it "pairs" easily with the ROKU player and scrolls more smoothly too. and the remote with plug-in headphones is a good upgrade for me (because my TV soundbar isn't very good). If you have trouble hearing sometimes, you can benefit from the headphones that are included with the Ultra 4K. Their tech support is good, but you usually have to be patient and wait quite a while for them to get to you, but when you do they have the stuff figured out and have been helpful to me, (I wasn't sure how the transfer my existing channel subscriptions to the new player). I've had it for about a month now and been very satisfied, but if you use the headphones, they run off the batteries in the remote so be sure to have spare AA batteries around, I'm on my second set of batteries.

A must for those who want to "cut the cord"
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roku ultra is the exact media player for those non-gamers who want to escape the arrogance of cable. Easy nstallation. Better picture . No unnecessary channels. Simple remote with a headphone jack (the tag on the bottom lets you know which way is up when you're in the dark). Unlimited storage that saves your selections for 9 months. You can chose any or all of the premium channels and not be pushed into any "package" by a cable company. I bought a modem and a router so I wouldn't have to rent them from Comcast. I will break even in three months because my total bill is half of the amount I was paying. Buy the Roku. You won't regret it.

Problem with the remote but otherwise excellent
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Runs super fast with no lag. Easy to setup, just takes some time to get signed into all of the apps. This is my favorite streaming player, even more so than Appletv, especially for the price. Got it on Black Friday week for a great price. You do have to add a payment method but can delete it right after the setup. Roku is free unless you purchase extra content or subscribe to pay channels. I haven’t tried it on my main 4K tv yet but it looks great on the HD tv I hooked it up to. I did have a problem with the remote. The remote would stop working after sitting for a few minutes. I would pop the batteries out and put them back in and it was fine but would act up again a few minutes later. I exchanged it in the store and have had no problems whatsoever with the second one. Also, the batteries it comes with are super cheap. They look like Duracell’s but are not. They will give you tons of static through the headphones when the charge gets low. Put new batteries in and problem solved.
