“Is it true there are no advertisements on this unit unlike the lesser expensive ones? I had been told that was one of the big differences from the $29-$39 ones”

I just got my Roku Ultra, so I am probably not the one to answer this question, but I am going to take a crack at it. I have seen no commercials since I starting using Roku. Now let me caution that it may depend on what channels you watch. If it is a free channel, it could be different. I hope this helps. By the way, I like my Roku alot. It is very easy to use.
