The TV has to have an HDMI port. It supports 4K resolution, but the TV has to be 4K-capable. I recommend getting a good quality HDMI cable (which can be had for $10); I have noticed it makes a difference.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No monthly fees on the device. If you want netflix or hulu and such, you will pay for those channels as you would normally. Just no fees on the device. I have not had a tv that I could not use a Roku with. You do not need a smart tv. I have an old small RCA in the guest room and it has a roku hooked up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I recommend the premier plus or this unit. But only this unit if he has a router near his tv because this one benefits from it's ability to connect directly to his router with an ethernet cord. If his router is in his bedroom and his Roku is in the living room then he would probably have to run an ethernet cord all the way from the living room Roku to his router in his bedroom. the premier plus is a great unit but without the ethernet provision.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a Sony flatscreen TV and it works fine on it but if you want to use the 4K feature you will need a 4K TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You only need a TV that supports HDMI input which most current TVs have. There are no monthly fees for the Roku unless you opt to purchase the premium channels. Some of the other channels only offer limited access without a Cable subscription but there are lots of other channels offering free shows and movies.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Any TV that has HDMI this will work. You will be amazed to see that Roku has local news channel and lots of free contents to watch (just search on youtube) and you will never-ever look for cable.
