Yes, the Roku Ultra will work with any tv with an HDMI connection. It doesn't need to be full HD or 4k. The Roku Ultra will work with 720p, 1080p, or 4k tv's. When you set it up for the first time, it auto-detects your display and configures it to work for your TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dear BonnieR; You've got nothing to lose; you have a an HD connector on your second TV. It should work. This doesn't require HDTV to make it work. Go for it. It'll be a nice holiday gift to you and your family. Best of luck.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think its possible to have an HDMI port and not be HD it may be low quality HD 720 but as long as the HDMI port works this device will be fine. The Ultra is best for a UHDTV or 4K which is what I have but still works fine if not full HD
