I kept having WiFi issues with my previous stick, so I got this so that I could just plug the Ethernet cable into the router. This thing is FAST in both streaming and processing. Netflix loads in about one second.

I recently cut cable cause of the ever rising prices. I have a much older model of the Roku stick and I was happy with it so I wanted something from Roku to match my 65 inch Sony 4K HDR tv. After much research on streaming devices I purchased the Roku Ultra (4660 model) and I am not disappointed!! This thing is quick and has beautiful picture quality. Setup was a breeze and I was watching 4K tv in less than 10 minutes. I currently stream Netflix, Hulu and Sling. All of them look great.

If you have a very good, reliable internet service, purchase the Roku Premier Ultra Model 4660, and do away with your cable box. Great picture and sound quality. Very easy to set up and utilize. Buy it now!!
Buy this and save money throughout the year. Easily streams CBS All Access with subscription.

I’ve been using Roku since it’s infantcy. The product has gotten progressively better.
Being that I have spectrum I am able to use the spectrum app on roku instead of renting a box. Saving me money. But check this out. The app comes in cleaner than the Dvr box I got from them. I use my roku player in tandem with my new Vizio m series. The roku upgrades the signal to 4k and the tv further upgrades it to ultra. Resulting in a fantastic picture.
The o/s is seamless as usual. The quad core processor keeps her moving right along. No lagging ever. If you have the upgraded Netflix package, the ultra will give you hdr10 on supported programming. The marvel series are absolutely stunning. You also get a 4k channel to help you find supported content.
I recommend it to anyone.

The Roku Ultra worth the extra cost

I currently have four Roku devices in our home. The Ultra is worth the extra dollars. I really appreciate the ability to control my TV with a single device and the voice search. I have also used the headphone jack and appreciate the ability to watch content without disturbing others around me.
The fact that I can control the TV without having to have a second remote in hand is a joy.
I wish the 2 Roku Premier+ that I purchased last year had this remote from the Roku Ultra. Video quality is the same on all three Roku's but the remote is the big difference.

I purchased the Roku Ultra about a month ago, the same day I got rid of cable. I have no complaints. Set up was easy as was setting up an account. Plenty of free movies and TV. Set up Hulu and CBS All Access quickly and used the free trials to see if I would use both accounts. I chose the inexpensive Hulu package, where one can watch TV shows the next day. Since I get local news on CBS all access I will probably keep it. I notice no lag time when streaming shows and movies. I also purchased a Roku stick for use in the bedroom and ended up switching the Ultra from my living room to the bedroom because the bedroom is further away from my router. Switching the 2 was easy. The remote works easily and the included ear buds are nice for use in the bedroom late at night. Voice commands are a bit iffy but using the remote works fine. Comparing paying $120/month for a home phone i didn't use, only 10 cable stations (along with home shopping channels I didn't want and couldn't get rid of) and internet vs paying about $80 for the internet, Hulu and CBS All Access is a no-brainer. Don't think I'll ever go back to cable.

Cut the Cable... Citizens Unite!

This was the first step in cutting the cable... there are other Roku at lower price, but this model is future-proof for the next few years and no buyer's remorse the week after. Very easy to set up at home, and adding a premium service like "Hulu Live" got just about everything needed to enjoy the cable-free experience. There is a voice-assist feature also, which can come in handy. So many options to browse around and see what's available that I promise it will take you a while to discover everything available using the Roku. Have been trying out several antennas to get the local (free) over-the-air channels, and once that gets settled down we will be in MUCH better shape than when the cable was the provider. There will be no more monthly bills for shows we never watch. The cable provider was sorry to see us go, but not so sorry to reduce the monthly rates.

I bought 2 of these Roku Ultra players for my mother. I'm the live in caretaker and last year we cut the cord - got rid of a bundle of cable + net + home phone service to cut the cost in more than half by just going with Net service. Home phone was nearly obsolete and seemed to serve only as a receiver for telemarketers and the cost of cable - for what we watch - made much more sense going with a streaming service (at the moment Hulu Live TV, but thinking about trying YouTube or the DirecTV NOW app). I'm an Apple guy (never thought I'd say that), and on my television I use Apple TV. However, my elderly mother is not tech savvy - I recall back to when we had a VCR, someone always had to do the "be kind, rewind" duty because even the simplest electronics were enough to confuse her. That being said, the AppleTV remote proved quite challenging - the swipes etc were something that proved to a hurdle that kept her too afraid to learn how to use it, so we tried Roku Ultra. I now have a Roku Ultra in the living room, and in her bedroom and she has a much easier time using it than AppleTV. If I am to be honest, the Roku tends to buffer more frequently and experiences skipping / clipping in playback of the Hulu LiveTV app more frequently than the AppleTV does. However, it is ONLY when watching Live TV on that app. This occurs on the AppleTV also, though not as frequently. When watching Hulu programming that is not Live TV, or Netflix, Youtube etc, this device streams seamlessly without issue. I think it's more of a Hulu Live issue than a streaming device issue to be honest. One thing that I did notice is that the Roku devices seem to stream much more data than AppleTV. We were using the AppleTV substantially - my mother being mostly homebound and without much in the way of hobbies, the TV goes on in the morning and barring any doctors' appointments, stays on most all days morning till night. Our data use jumped from around 500-600 gb data / month to in this current billing cycle, we're on pace for roughly 1.2 tb data. For the last couple weeks of last month, I had the AppleTV disconnected and we used one Roku and the data use skyrocketed at the end of the month compared to the first part of the month. That is the only complaint that I can find, but like the AppleTV, I'm looking for workarounds - I know with AppleTV you can turn of auto updating, change the screen saver settings etc. If I'm able to find some way to alter the data use of Roku Ultra, I would then put it on par with AppleTV. In the interim, I would put it just behind the AppleTV, but only because of the huge uptick in data use. For those not tech savvy, or can't seem to get a handle on the gestures / swipes of an AppleTV remote and prefers buttons, this player should more than suffice. If you have data limits, you may want to keep a close eye on data use as you move through your billing period. Great product!

Ok, I know it doesn't have an optical port any longer like the previous year's version, but audio via HDMI is pretty comparable anyway. Getting that out of the way, you cannot go wrong with the Roku Ultra. It's definitely future-proof, has one of the best smart tv operating systems out in the market, and having the smart remote that can turn on and off your television, as well as it's television volume controls, is amazing! Get the Roku Streaming Stick+ if you don't have room behind your TV; get the Ultra if you have space for the small footprint set top box!

I have a Firestick that I've used for over 2 years, which worked decent enough for us. However, the issues with that was we had to continually clear out the cache or unplug it to freshen it up. So I wanted to try something new, which led me to trying the Roku. Needless to say, I've been happy and thrilled with this player as I haven't had to clear any cache and I'm now able to use it as a cable box for my Spectrum account to stream TV. The picture quality and apps are well worth the money. My wife also finds it easier and not as frustrating as the firestick would freeze or not load. The controller that comes with is also very easy to use and sinks up to tvs to allow volume and power to be accessed.

I have a Roku on every tv I own. Some of them are at least 5 years old so I decided I needed to upgrade my main one I use. I bought the Ultra the day it was released. It's fast. I like that I can say the show I want to watch and it lists the apps I can watch it on. Love that I can control the tv volume with my Roku remote.

Roku Rocks

I have had Apple TV since it came out as well as Amazon Fire I was fairly happy with both. Once amazon Prime was available on apple I discontinued my use of Fire. By far Roku is best for streaming, the interface is easier and app store is far larger than Apple and Fire. I moved to Roku for Live TV because Spectrum wasn't available on either Apple or Fire. I ended up moving to Hulu over Spectrum because the line up for Sports was better. (A note I have a 60 Mbps Internet connection, don’t do less if you stream multiple devices at once.)
Comparing Hulu on Apple TV vs. Roku, Roku is far better. Netflix is a push on both; I think Amazon Prime works a little better on Apple TV. Roku has Pluto, which is free live TV, which is big bonus. Apps such as Fox Sports Go, History, AMC do better on Roku
The remote for Roku is really cool too, allowing you to plug headphones directly in. The single on switch after programing turns on TV and switches the input directly to Roku. I recommend using a behind TV holder and aim above the TV for the remote, it bounces to the box and prevents unsightly cords.
One thing Roku doesn't do easily is streaming your own media library. You will need to install Plex on both your computer and on Roku and go through a not so easy set up. I will still continue to use Apple TV for my media Library, I have a Mac and it is far easier to use Apple TV for your Media Library. All in all Roku is best for Streaming and Apple TV for your own Media Library.

I have used an old PlayStation 3 for streaming for years. This is so much more streamlined, expandable storage and flexible. I love that I can watch in privacy late at night with headphone jack on the remote. The remote now also has basic TV functions built-in so it simplified use. I have HBOgo not HBOnow, wish the hard buttons could be reassigned. I have had to re-sign in a few times to channels I already am in which becomes cumbersome. Overall a great upgrade

Love the ease of use of this device. We use it with UHD TV. No lags or delays with streaming. Only negative is there are so many channels available that it makes extremely inappropriate materials available for kids if you don’t use parental controls.

Purchased this after having tried competing product from Apple which i found clumsy to use and a classic example of form over function. this product is great. easy to use lots of streaming options, works great with my harmony remote, and is quick to load and start streaming. while i don’t use it since i have a universal remote, the included remote feels great in hand and the voice search and private listening are very cool. unless you are a heavy apple or amazon user this is a great neutral product that will not disappoint.

I have two other Rokus and really like how these work so well. You need to be sure to have a good Wi-Fi router to get the most out of these, or plan to hardwire it to your router. The picture is fantastic and so is the interface.
