Most dvd have problems being copied because they have protection build in as does some tv channels which do not allow them to be recorded. I had a set top dvd recorders. I was disappointed to find that I couldn’t record old tv shows. There are some programs that will allow you to copy a dvd and use the copy instead of possibly damaging the original. There are laws for this stuff in most cases you may be able to do it. It’s called fair use and you must have the original if you copy it for purpose as stated above.
