“I get that this microwave can do it's primary function (microwave) but can I use it's grilling element to replace my toaster oven as well (where I toast bread, cook frozen pizza, etc) if I decide to buy it? Is having this combination dangerous?”

It is not dangerous.. and it does work to a point.. It can toast things and possibly could be used to replace your toaster oven.. however, it takes a long time to get hot enough to toast and there is only the one heating element at the top.. if you don't mind waiting about 4 times as long to have toast it could do the trick.
