I can't tell you whether any individual units have had issues with ice buildup, but I can tell you that if an issue does arise, the Customer Service team is available to help resolve the issue, as evidenced by Samsung Refrigerators earning the JD Power Award for Overall Customer Satisfaction for 8 of the past 10 years. The RF18HFENBWW is backed by a one year warranty for parts and labor; five years parts and labor on the sealed system (including the compressor, evaporator, condenser, drier, and connecting tubing); and five additional years for the Digital Inverter Compressor part (for ten years total on the compressor part). - Ms. Samsung
