The unit should not be used in a garage where the climate is too cold or too hot .

The answer to your question is - it depends. Are you living in a warm climate or in an area that has freezing temperatures in winter? 

In Northern Ohio it is not recommended for winter use. There are fridges and freezers that are designed for cold spaces but they probably are sold commercially for restaurants, etc.
