• You can't turn it "off" but you can adjust the sub-woofer's volume independently from the soundbar. The woofer's range goes from -6 to +6, and going further down from -6 sets it to -12, which is basically a mute mode.

• Yes. For now I am just using the soundbar, I did not connect the sub woofer yet, and it sounds great.
