“There is a note on the tag in the store that says this fridge needs a 38" wide space. I've never heard of that. Ours is 36" Is that wide enough? It seems a counter depth fridge usually means that it goes in a smaller space. Since 36" is a standard width for a fridge, it seems odd that you would need a 38" space. This note I am referring to was on this model in another store. I have never heard this from any other source including Samsung's website. Thanks”

Thanks for your interest. The RH22H9010SR is 35-3/4" wide and will fit in a 36" wide opening. - Ms. Samsung

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Counter depth refers the the depth, not the width. There are many different widths of counter depth refrigerators. Yes, for this model you need at least a 38'' wide opening. It's just under 38" wide so it will fit very snug in a 38'' opening.
