• Door stays closed. The one in the door is the only vent. When done, I pull the door open a little and let them dry a little more for an hour or two before I put them away. I've always done this with any machine. They all leave a little water on the overturned cups etc, and I don't like to use the dry cycle, uses too much electricity.

• No, it does not have the automatic open feature which I hated on my previous Samsung. I replaced that one with this one. It has a heated drying feature so it stays closed.
