As far as I can see, the other answer given is incorrect...Both models have filtered ice makers. The link given for comparison is just Best Buy's comparison page of specs and not all specs are complete, nor are they necessarily correct; for instance, it shows the water filter model number as R134a, but that is the type of refrigerant used. I don't know if the water filter model number would be the same as the type of refrigeration, but that would be odd. As to the actual difference between the two model numbers, the only difference seems to be that the one with the model number ending in "r" is what the Samsung website shows as stainless steel, and the one ending with the model number ending in "p" is what the Samsung website shows as platinum. If you go to the Samsung website and search either model number, it will show you different colors available on the same page, and when you click on another color, the model number changes to reflect that.
