• Hi Grammyma, Once you open the freezer door, the top drawer will half-open for you to choose if you want to open it completely or close it to use the bottom one. ^Joan

• The freezer on this model is an auto pull out, so when the freezer is open, the top drawer slides out somewhat, so you can see the compartment underneath it.
