ice maker is hooked to water line, ice off button is lit; but no ice. brand new. any thoughts? null

Light is telling you that the ice maker is off. Hold ice off button release.light will go off. Wait 24 hours for ice.

My understanding from the manual is that when the ice off button is lit, that means you do not want ice. I do not have my ice maker hooked up and heard the noise a fridge makes to bring water into refrigerator so I pushed the "ice off" button, for "no ice" and that took care of it trying to fill ice maker . Hope that helps,

Thanks for the question. If the Ice Off button is lit, then the ice maker is turned off. Press the button again so it's no longer illuminated to turn the ice maker on. If you haven't done so already, it may be necessary to bleed air from the lines and initialize the ice maker by pressing the Test/Reset button on the bottom of the ice maker. Keep in mind that the ice maker can't make ice until the freezer has reached an appropriate temperature (0ºF is recommended). Thank you for choosing Samsung! Ms. Samsung

If the ice off button is lit that means the ice is turned off. The light should be off for it to make ice.

The refrigerator will not make ice until you press the ice off button and the light goes out.
