According to the user manual, 2 inches or more on the back. No buffer needed on the sides, but be aware that the doors open out, so make sure to have clearance in the front area for the doors to open. Clearance for the back and sides is as follows: Back: more than 2" (50 mm) recommended. Left side (facing refrigerator): 14" (355 mm). Right side (facing refrigerator): 22 1/4" (564 mm).
