Remember you have to vent it outside. So vent it straight back if you want to put an appliance above it.
But I’m sure a microwave would be too high for comfortable use if it’s above a range hood.

A:AnswerThis box is NOT compatible with any ranges as far as connectivity. It is only compatible with a few counter mounted samsung cooktops. I fought samsung on this after i had it installed. They conceded that this in fact does not have wifi capability. It connects via Bluetooth to the few cooktops and uses the cooktop's wifi connection. Best buy was great in making things right after i purchased this. It is basically a $1200 standard vent hood... unless you have one of their compatible cooktops, which you have to call samsung to verify. Even then, good luck finding a tech person at samsung who knows this. I verified with them prior to my purchase that it would work with my also new duo flex range, they said yes. After hours on thephone with Samsung, they said it wasn't their fault that i didn't research deeper even though i spoke with their technical presales team prior to my purchase.
Long story short, call Samsung, ask for the exact models of cooktops and ranges that will allow for the smart functions and connectivity of the hood to work. If they tell you it's blue tooth with your phone or tablet, they are 100% incorrect. The maximum functionality is, it connects to a few models of cooktops only, and the wifi connection is from the cooktops. Connects to cooktops via Bluetooth and uses the cooktops connection to wifi via that Bluetooth connection.

A:AnswerSince this answer from Samsung was unhelpful I called the SmartThings support number. After a long conversation with the rep he finally checks my ranges compatibility and says it is not compatible with the hood. The range is brand new with WiFi connectivity as is the hood. One would assume that Samsung's new appliances with WiFi labels can connect, but no. Sale folks at Best Buy said they are all working together. I don't care for this function but since it is supposed to work it would be nice if it did. Very bad Samsung.
