“What am I doing wrong? Hooked optical out from TV to optical in on sound bar. Samsung TV saw instantly an sound bar & sub work. But as soon as sound-share connects, TV speakers turn off. Only receive sound from bar & sub. Is this normal?”

Yes. It's normal. If the volume on the TV does come on it isn't in sync with the tv and soundbar. It's best to just use the soundbar.
