Distance between legs is 31.25 inches between the supporting legs. I too had concerns to purchase this as a replacement to be placed on top of a high boy bureau which is only 36 inches wide.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought the same 40" Samsung for my wife recently. She wanted to place it on a dresser, but not length-wise, width-wise. Needed something with less than a 19" base, i.e., a pedestal. I got one of the universal mounts--a pedestal--that was about 18" wide. Attached it to the VESA screw holes in the back of the TV. Installation was pretty easy. The mount weighs more than the TV, so the TV is much more secure than it would have been with the legs. Sorry this is late-to-need.

Please try again later.My son's bought me this TV for Christmas and I had it sitting on a dresser that wasn't wide enough really but I live alone and didn't see this as a problem. Well, I bumped it lightly coming in the door with full hands and I am now looking for a replacement. These TVs are light weight and easy to knock over. Trust me when I say don't take any chances!
