I investigated the different series of Samsung TV before buying my latest TV. The higher the first digit of the four number series indicates a much higher level of picture. If you were to look at the a 6 series and a 7 series side by side you likely see a big difference. For an extra $100 get the and likely your cable feed will give you a better viewing experience.
