“It looks like Samsung TVs show ads all the time. If I buy this TV it will be a standalone unit, attached to an antenna for OTA viewing and a Magnavox DVR via HDMI or Composite connections with no WiFi connection. Still get ads all the time?”

It can be a stand alone unit if you have WiFi. I use mine that way. I only use the smart or app channels and connect to my WiFi.. without being physically connected.
