Yes the tv will work with a cable antenna. You can turn off the wifi but it isn't necessary if you never actually set up the wifi on the tv. It comes with the wifi off, you have to turn in on in yourself. The tv will work with the cable antenna to watch basic television. It will not work for the apps, cable channels or internet if the wifi is not activated. Hope that answers the question.
