can't answer that one. . . all I know is that the picture is flawless with respect to it's clarity, detail and colors displayed. If this is your first experience with a flat screen t.v., you will (should) be very impressed with what your eyes will tell you. I'd highly recommend this unit. . . a good value in this price range.
