“Dumb question probably, but I haven’t had a new tv in years. Do I need a hard cable connection to use or does it a run off Wi-Fi to connect to my cable company?”

I do know that You definitely need Wifi. If you have an antenna, that will work for just basic channels. But it is better to have cable, but that may be too expensive. If so, with Wifi you can get TV apps. Some are free. But you have to purchase the best ones.
